GridCast Privacy Policy
Last updated: November 1, 2026
GridCast is a Chrome extension that shows video from several of your browser tabs side by side in one grid. This policy explains what the extension does and does not do with your data. The short version: GridCast does not collect, store, sell, or transmit any of your data. Everything happens locally in your browser.
What GridCast accesses, and why
- Tab capture. When you click the GridCast icon on a tab, Chrome gives GridCast a live video and audio stream of that tab so it can be shown in your grid. The stream goes directly from that tab to the GridCast page on your computer. It is never recorded, saved, or sent anywhere, and it stops when you remove the tile, close the tab, or close the grid.
- Site access (optional). If you allow it, GridCast runs a small script on pages you add to the grid. That script only looks for the position and size of the playing video so the grid can crop to it. It does not read page text, form fields, cookies, passwords, or browsing history, and it does nothing on tabs you haven't added.
- Local storage. GridCast keeps temporary state in Chrome's local extension storage, such as which tabs are currently on the grid and whether you've chosen not to grant site access. This never leaves your device.
What GridCast does not do
- No analytics, tracking, telemetry, or advertising.
- No network requests to GridCast or any third party. The extension contains no remote code.
- No accounts and no personal information collected.
- No recording or downloading of video or audio.
- No selling or sharing of data. There is no data to sell or share.
Changes
If this policy changes, for example because a future version adds an optional paid upgrade that needs a license check, the updated policy will be posted here with a new date before that version is released.
